PADDED ARMOR
Armor Bonus: +1

Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +8
Armor Check Penalty: +0
Spell Failure: 5%
Description: Padded armor often consists of a thick jacket of many layers, quilted together or stuffed with wadded cloth, providing only minimal protection.  Many warriors will also keep a set of padded armor available to wear over their normal armor (though at no additional benefit) to make it more presentable when the situation calls for it.  Courtiers with martial pretensions will sometimes wear beautifully decorated masterwork suits made entirely of silk.
Cost: 5 gp
Weight: 10 lbs

LEATHER ARMOR
Armor Bonus: +2
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +6
Armor Check Penalty: +0
Spell Failure: 10%
Description: Leather armor is generally a full-body suit made of cuir bouilli, either as complete sections, laminar strips, or small, interlocking pieces such as the hexagonal plates of so-called "tortoise shell" armor common amongst the armor used by militias.  It has a reputation as the cheapest type of "real" armor, and a mainstay of peasants and the most amateur of adventurers.

Cost: 10 gp
Weight: 15 lbs

HIDE SHIRT
Armor Bonus: +3
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +4
Armor Check Penalty: -1
Spell Failure: 15%
Description: A hide shirt is generally just a simple jacket made of cured hides, often with the fur still attached.  Bulky and inelegant, it is preferred by those looking to spare their pocketbooks at the expense of their skin and by druids who eschew the metallic trappings of more common armors.

Cost: 15 gp
Weight: 18 lbs

LAMELLAR LEATHER
Armor Bonus: +3
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +5
Armor Check Penalty: -1
Spell Failure: 15%
Description: Lamellar leather is a suit of armor made of overlapping plates of leather hardened by boiling or soaking in wax.  It can be worn either unadorned or studded with metal protrusions, providing superior protection to simpler but cheaper plain leather armors.

Cost: 25 gp
Weight: 20 lbs

JAZERANT
Armor Bonus: +4
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +4
Armor Check Penalty: -2
Spell Failure: 20%
Description: Jazerant armor consists of a shirt of fine metal links sandwiched between layers of cloth or thin leather.  Depending on the origin and design, it is also frequently called a chain shirt, a mail jacket, or a kazaghand.

Cost: 100 gp
Weight: 25 lbs
