BRIGANDINE
Armor Bonus
: +4
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +3
Armor Check Penalty: -2
Spell Failure: 20%
Description: Brigandine consists of an armored coat with a jerkin of heavy cloth onto which numerous small metal plates have been affixed, usually on the inside, but sometimes on the exterior for artistic effect.  More cumbersome than light armor but less effective than most medium armors, the advantage of a brigandine coat is that a person can don it or remove it as a move action; there is no "don hastily" option for brigandine.  Variously known also as a jack of plates, a coat of nails, an iron robe, or a kuyak.

Cost: 50 gp
Weight: 20 lbs

HIDE ARMOR
Armor Bonus: +4
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +4
Armor Check Penalty: -3
Spell Failure: 20%
Description: Hide armor is similar to the hide shirt, but includes overlapping layers of thick, protective hides, often with strips of bone or horn sewn in to protect vital areas.  It is usually stylized with thick ruffs of fur at the collar or as trim, for a truly barbarian look.  There is really no way of wearing this style of armor that will not provoke scorn from the rarified ranks of the Armant aristocracy.

Cost: 15 gp
Weight: 25 lbs

SCALE MAIL
Armor Bonus: +5
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +3
Armor Check Penalty: -4
Spell Failure: 25%
Description: A compromise between protection and mobility, scale mail is made from overlapping layer of rippling, coin-sized plates of metal.  It goes by many names, including fish-scale armor, coin armor, squama, and cataphract.

Cost: 50 gp
Weight: 30 lbs

CHAINMAIL
Armor Bonus: +6
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +2
Armor Check Penalty: -5
Spell Failure: 30%
Description: One of the more popular armors, chainmail is favored by everyone from light cavalry to novice adventurers.  These sheets of interlocking chain links have been a staple of armories since time immemorial.  Also called maille, mesh armor, link armor, or a chain hauberk.

Cost: 150 gp
Weight: 40 lbs

MIRROR ARMOR
Armor Bonus: +6
Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +3
Armor Check Penalty: -4
Spell Failure: 25%
Description: Both renowned and relatively rare, mirror armor consists primarily of four large, rigid plates affixed about the wearer's torso, providing both excellent protection and a surprising degree of mobility.  It enjoys a number of creative names amongst the diverse cultures of Armant, including the klivanium and apezak, though it is also colloquially known as bright armor or rondel armor.

Cost: 400 gp
Weight: 35 lbs
